Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Laurence Magro
Imagine being able to rely on your own inner resources for learning, growing, and healing.

Mindfulness isn’t a gimmick — it’s a scientifically proven method for easing stress, discomfort, fear, anxiety, and a wide range of chronic ailments.

This 10-session program teaches the practice of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), introduced in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by molecular biologist Jon Kabat-Zinn. Once we know how to practice MBSR — and anyone can learn how — it helps us fully enjoy, be present for, and experience all the rewards that life has to offer.

From one session to the next, you will learn to improve your relationship with the things that challenge you on a day-to-day basis. Stress visits all of us, hopefully just in brief stretches. Circumstances beyond our control, however, can require a broader and more robust tolerance for stress. Without effective tools, it can take a toll on our bodies and minds, as well as on our partners and families.

Recent scientific research suggests that mindfulness practice, meditation, breathing exercises, and other easy-to-learn practices can boost our energy, increase our emotional and mental resilience, and improve our overall health. Mindfulness has been proven to be effective in treating — as an adjunct to medical and psychological treatments — many challenges, including:

  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Cancer and chronic disease
  • Work, family, and emotional stress
  • Eating disturbances
  • Heart disease
  • Sleeplessness

Join us for this comprehensive program that offers a systematic method for cultivating emotional and physical well-being, as well as mental clarity and insight.
